Dear quiet students,
If you keep feeling closed off or as if you don’t live in the same world as the people around you, I encourage you to get out there! Make friends and go to school activities with them, be that person that others see in halls, and waves at, it will make both your days. It’s like a boost of joy. Trust me, when I say it makes a tremendous difference to your life.
As a senior, I wish I pushed myself to be more extroverted because now that I am I notice myself with a smile more often, so, take that as your sign to get out there and be nice, welcoming, and happy. Don’t ever worry about what other people think of you.
It’s understandable if you prefer to be alone, but please, still try to get involved; it can be as little as joining a school club. School clubs offer you to make friends with the same interests, go on field trips, and even (drumroll please) open up! I cannot stress this enough, getting out there makes your time in high school so much better.
Quiet students, I know you might not want to involve yourself because you already have an image of a silent kid, but listen when I say students at BHS are going to welcome you with open arms. BHS students who are involved love to make friends, and are always so utterly nice and uplifting.
Consider going to sport events or being in a sport. It’s another great way to gain friends and learn teamwork, and if you didn’t know, teamwork is one of the strongest ways to bond. Being in a sport means you will have a group of friends you can grow with, struggle with, win with, and lose with. What I am trying to get across here is that you will be able to experience real life stages with a team.
As I’m closing this, I want you quiet kids to strongly think about all these benefits of opening your wings. Your character growth will be amazing, and I believe in you.
Sincerely,
The Class of 2025
