Like many people, I enjoy exploring a variety of video games.
With so many different games out there, I want to share a few games that I like to play, whether at school or home in my free time!
Whether it is for console or mobile games, no category is left out.
Mobile games
- Blooms Tower Defense 6
The latest and greatest in the Bloons TD series, this game takes the classic tower defense style and adds a splash of creativity by featuring monkeys as the towers. Yes, monkeys, are categorized into four types: Primary, Military, Magic, and Support. Each type has an assortment of unique abilities to fight against the dreaded balloons. Popping balloons and dealing with large blimps known as MOABs (as well as other types like BFB, ZOMG, DDT, and BAD) is the main objective. The MOAB is the most formidable, so get ready for some fun!
2. Roblox
For the next pick, I had to return to my roots and choose Roblox. Despite its less-than-stellar history, it still has moments of brilliance, such as games like Rainbow Friends and Dandy’s World. You can create and customize avatars using Robux, purchasing outfits and accessories. Even with its bumps over the past few years and a somewhat unconventional community, it remains the ultimate destination for games, experiences, and even horror-themed adventures!
3. Crossy Road Castle
Last but certainly not least is the beloved franchise of Crossy Road, specifically its quirky Apple Arcade version, Crossy Road Castle. In this game, you and three other players choose characters from the Crossy Road universe and venture into a tall, seemingly infinite tower, facing numerous challenges. Each 30 floors presents a boss, whether it’s the Eagle or a game show owl, with each one more dangerous than the last. Every floor counts as one room, and if you die while playing solo, that’s one life lost. Fortunately, every 10 floors features a vending machine that can refill your lives with coins found while playing, so proceed with caution!
Switch games
- Super Mario Odyssey
We start off with none other than Nintendo’s mascot’s next chapter: Mario. In this installment, Mario faces off against Bowser, who manages to stomp on and shred his hat. However, Mario finds himself in a strange world known as the Cap Kingdom. After exploring the nearby Cascade Kingdom, it’s up to Mario and his new friend Cappy to find moons to power their ship and travel through various kingdoms to rescue Princess Peach and Cappy’s sister from Bowser’s clutches.
2. Splatoon 3
Next stop: Inkopolis! I chose this game because it’s the most modern installment of the Splatoon franchise. The rules are simple: use your ink gun to splat your enemies. When you run out of ink, simply sink into the ink of your color to refill. With multiple game modes, challenges, and a full story mode available, the fun never ends!
3. Mario Party Superstars
And last but certainly not least is a game that has likely destroyed many friendships: Mario Party! The rules are straightforward: roll the dice, move, gain or lose coins, land on event spaces, and possibly buy or steal a star if you have enough coins. After everyone’s turn, a mini-game is played, and based on your ranking, you earn coins. With multiple maps, different rules, and a large cast of characters to choose from, the possibilities are endless!
PS5 games
- Astro Bot (2024)
We’re discussing the latest and greatest PS5 game featuring Astro, a character who originally served as a lab rat to showcase the PS4’s improved controllers and motion control technology. Sony took notice and decided to give Astro his own VR game, resulting in Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. His popularity skyrocketed with Astro’s Playroom, which came pre-installed on the PS5. The recent sequel, Astro Bot, celebrates how far Sony has come, featuring cameos from iconic characters like Jack and Daxter and Sly Cooper. If you’re a fan of Sony’s IPs or just enjoy a fun platformer, I highly recommend this game!
2. Payday 2
For my next pick, I had to choose a game I know and love: Payday! In this game, you take on jobs with seemingly nice people, often resulting in chaotic encounters with law enforcement. With a multitude of weapons, character choices, and skill trees, you can customize your robber to be bigger and better. The game features multiple difficulty levels, culminating in the challenging Deathwish difficulty, along with various types of cops that can complicate your heists. Happy heisting!
3. Pac-Man World RE: Pac
Finally, we have Pac-Man! This 3D platformer features Pac-Man on a quest to rescue his family and defeat the wannabe Pac-Man: Toc-Man. With plenty of secrets to uncover, bosses to defeat, and various stages to navigate, this game offers a fun experience for all players.
Xbox games
- Castle Crashers
Starting off is a game filled with humor and fun! In Castle Crashers, you embark on a quest to retrieve a large crystal for your king, only to find yourself rescuing a princess and facing off against numerous absurd challenges. The game features quirky animations and a delightful story, so get ready for a wild ride!
2. Plants vs. Zombies (Xbox Edition)
We’re going back to a classic: Plants vs. Zombies! This tower defense game, long before PopCap’s acquisition by EA, set the standard for the genre. In the Xbox version, you can enjoy a unique feature: two-player versus mode! Choose your size and engage in a fun competition to protect your garden from waves of zombies.
3. BattleBlock Theater
Ending this section is one of the most bizarre games on the list. In this BattleBlock Theater, you choose your character and are thrust into a theater after a disastrous boat crash. Your block-headed friend, Hatty, becomes possessed, and it’s up to you to navigate through quirky levels, collect gems, and save him. Bring a friend for co-op mode—it’s not easy!
PC games
- Pizza Tower
I’ve been eager to talk about this game! You play as Peppino Spaghetti, the greatest Italian character in gaming history (no offense to Mario). His restaurant is on the brink of bankruptcy when a giant sentient pizza called “Pizza Face” threaten to destroy it. Rushing through the tower to defeat Pizza Face is the goal of this speed-based game, with multiple themed levels and challenging bosses along the way. Get ready for a hilarious and frantic adventure!
2. Team Fortress 2 (TF2)
Now we transition from a fast-paced adventure to a chaotic multiplayer experience! In TF2, you choose to play as either the Red or Blue team, batling in various game moves. With nine different classes, each with unique abilities and personalities, you can also join the Man vs. Machine mode, where you face waves of robotic enemies. This game offers endless fun!
3. Sonic Robo Blast Kart 2 (SRB2 Kart)
To wrap up this list, we have SRB2 Kart! Imagine racing with Sonic and a variety of other characters on impressive tracks. The game supports mods and offers online play without any extra costs. It’s continually updated, so there’s always something new to enjoy. Grab your favorite racer and get ready to hit the track!
Conclusion
And that concludes my gaming roundup! I chose my favorite and most interesting games to make this list special. If I missed any other games, please let me know, and I might create a second list featuring new additions. For now, that’s the end!
