A Student’s Guide of COVID-19 Symptoms

Victoria Reyes

The possible symptoms of contracting Covid-19 are as follows (according to several survivors, as well as my own personal experience):

  • A head cold
  • A slight fever
  • A cough (ranging from mild to severe)
  • Added sensitivity to the weather
  • Loss of scent
  • Fatigue
  • Boredom
  • Loss of taste
  • Mood swings (may be due to lack of happiness rather than the virus itself)
  • Having the ability to get people to wash their hands more
  • Respiratory problems/trouble breathing (from mild to severe)
  • Oversleeping/insomnia (may be due to personal problems rather than the virus itself)
  • Sudden added interest in the production of the Covid-19 vaccine
  • Quick loss of interest in soups and other foods people make when one is sick
  • Much more frequent sniffing of spices/coffee grounds/candles/lemons to see if one’s sense of smell has returned yet
  • Memorizing the ceiling of your room
  • Family members dropping off food and running back to their car immediately after
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss/weight gain (could be unrelated to the virus itself)
  • Longer showers (could be unrelated to the virus itself)
  • Sleeping on the floor rather than one’s own bed
  • Downloading the Duolingo app
  • Buying several multi-hundred-piece puzzles because “too much technology isn’t good for you” (upsetting but true)
  • Siblings becoming more annoying than usual
  • Boredom
  • Headaches
  • Occasionally upset stomach (a rare occurrence)
  • Rearranging one’s room to be more comfortable
  • Increased craving of fresh air
  • Clammy hands
  • Back aches
  • Increased facetime and video calls to anyone who answers
  • More online shopping (likely without the buying part)
  • Spontaneous bedroom fashion shows
  • Boredom
  • Getting the 2048 tile in the game, 2048 (personal achievement of mine during Covid)
  • Writing more in one’s abandoned journal, even if just once
  • Increased negativity towards school work
  • Boredom
  • Increased imaginative capacity (may be due to boredom)
