Addison Rae, an American TikTok Star who became famous for doing TikTok dances, dropped her debut album “AR” on Aug. 18 and is now available on all streaming services. Fans can also pre-order her signed CD on the official Warner music website for $9.98.

Rae started her music career in 2021 with her single “Obsessed,” which was panned by the general public. She releases four new tracks in her new album, including the title track, “I Got It Bad.”

Rae brings back a certain 2000s nostalgia reminiscent of a young Britney Spears in her new album. “AR” is fun, simple, and pleasing, with a running time of 11 minutes and 57 seconds. She continues with her pop sound, branches out, and works with new producers and songwriters.

“I Got It Bad” is a song where she talks about her feelings about her main love interest. It is undeniably catchy and a strong dance track where she shows off her developed vocals.

“2 die 4,” featuring Charli XCX, is a short and charming dance track. The song brings a smoother production than the opening track as she yearns for someone who thinks she’s to die for.

“Nothing on (but the radio),” was a song originally made for Lady Gaga but was unfortunately scrapped, is given a new life with Addison’s fresh vocals. she sings to the listener that she has nothing on but the radio. It’s a fun electro-dance track with a sweet chorus.

“It Could’ve Been You” ends the album with a pop-rock vibe. It’s a generic break-up song. Rae declares she’s over the mistakes of a past lover, singing,Cause every time we break up,/ I break down./ No, I don’t want to makeup,/ I’ll make out with somebody new./ It could have been you.”

“It Could’ve Been You” is not a bad song; the other tracks on the album just outshine it with stronger production and lyrics.

Overall, “AR” is surprisingly well-produced and solid. Addison has potential as a musician, and listeners are excited to see what she does next.

Overall rating: ★★★★.5
