Red Ribbon Week is taking over BHS from October 28 through November 1.
Red Ribbon Week is celebrated every year in late October in the United States. The week-long event is a campaign to spread awareness for drug, tobacco, and alcohol abuse; it also remembers and honors those who have suffered from dangerous drugs.
October 28
“‘Start the week by wearing red for Red Ribbon Week.’ Grab your red Converse or ribbon to kick off Red Ribbon Week.”
Have fun decorating your 2nd-period classroom door with a Red Ribbon Week theme for the door decoration activity. Decorations could include anti-drug messages or red accessories.
October 29
“‘Pair up against drugs’ with Twin Day. Show up to school with a twin to fight off drugs. Pair up with a twin or a whole group!”
Tuesday will include the Red Ribbon Week Assembly, “A Life Interrupted,” during 3rd period. Check with your teacher to find out if your class will be attending.
If you felt inspired by the assembly, you can take Casey’s Pledge to live a drug-free life and stay alcohol-free by taking a pledge at lunch.
October 30
“‘My team is drug-free!’ Team jersey day. Sport your favorite team or college by wearing a jersey, apparel, or team colors.”
Participate in the “Natural High” activity at lunch in Elm Grove; share what your natural high is, complete games and win prizes.
October 31
“‘Say boo to drugs don’t let drugs haunt you!’ Drugs can be scary, make sure to give them a scare by wearing your Halloween costume to school.”
Head out to Elm Grove at lunch to visit the Health Fair and learn about how to maintain a healthy mind and body.
Happy Halloween Drillers!
November 1
“‘Say peace out to drugs!’ Wear your best tie dye or hippie apparel to end Red Ribbon Week.”
The winners of the door decorating contest will be announced at the end of 2nd period. Donuts will be given to the winning class.
