The Rise of Video Games

Since quarantine, many video gaming industries have thrived such as Microsoft, Nintendo, Twitch, and Activision. With more kids and adults at home all day, streaming platform, Twitch, has seen gameplay increased from March to April by 50%. From the month April alone, players have managed to knock up 3.2 billion hours together. An in-game concert performing in Fortnite by Travis Scott received 12 million views by players. NPD reported the overall sales for video games to be 1.6 million and argue “A person who was playing zero hours a week and they’re now playing one or two, you may have won them over forever.” People have turned to at home entertainment because the quarantine restrictions and a popular choice will always be video games.
