To the fabulous faculty at BHS,
I want you to know that you too are loved, you’re not alone, and that everyone is also rooting for your success. We have an amazingly challenging job right now. We find ourselves in a situation that we had almost no preparation for, but we are DOING IT! I want to encourage you all to be an open and available resource for your students. Take a couple of minutes of class to check in with your students and see how they are doing. Offer to them an inspirational quote or story, or give them the opportunity to speak about what’s going on in their lives. They need it. We all need it. Create an open and accepting place for them to feel comfortable and at ease. I want to remind you of the story of the girl and the starfish. There was a girl on the beach throwing starfish back into the ocean. Thousands of them had washed up on the sand during a storm. A man came up to her and asked her why she was doing this. He said “Look at this beach! No way can you save them all. You can’t even begin to make a difference.” She reaches down and picks up another star fish and throws it in the ocean and says “I made a difference to that one.” Be the difference for your students. I love you all dearly!
Sincerely,
A Teacher
